Johnson Arabia successfully executed a complex marine lifting and shifting operation in Ajman, reaffirming its position as a trusted leader in heavy and engineered lifting solutions across the UAE.
The project was carried out using the Liebherr LTM 1500 8.1, a 500-ton class all-terrain crane, selected for its capability to perform high-precision lifts in demanding and restricted environments.
The scope of the project involved the lifting and shifting of two tugboats, each requiring a distinct execution approach. One tugboat was lifted and transferred to the designated maintenance area to facilitate inspection and servicing works. The second tugboat was lifted from land and carefully placed into the sea, completing a critical stage of its marine deployment. Both operations demanded precise control of load stability, lifting geometry, and coordination between marine and lifting teams.
The site conditions presented several engineering challenges. The working area was congested, limiting crane positioning and manoeuvrability, while the proximity of the quay wall required strict control of safe working distances to prevent structural loading risks.
To address ground bearing pressure concerns, Johnson Arabia engineered and deployed steel mats beneath the crane outriggers, ensuring effective load distribution and ground stability throughout the operation. Detailed lift planning and site assessments were conducted in advance to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with safety and engineering standards.
